Royal Caribbean, Perfect Day at CocoCay is an award winning private island in the Bahamas and one of the most talked about cruise destinations in the Caribbean. Following a $250 million transformation, the island has been reimagined as an all in one beach resort, waterpark and relaxation retreat exclusively for Royal Caribbean guests.

Formerly known as Little Stirrup Cay, Perfect Day at CocoCay reopened in 2019 and has since become a headline feature on many Caribbean cruise itineraries. Whether you want heart racing thrills, laid back beach time or luxury upgrades, this island delivers something for every type of cruiser.

If you are considering Caribbean cruises that include CocoCay, this complete guide covers everything you need to know before you go.

What is Perfect Day at CocoCay?

Perfect Day at CocoCay is a private island owned and operated by Royal Caribbean, located in the Berry Islands of the Bahamas. Only Royal Caribbean cruise guests can visit, which allows the experience to feel curated, organised and far less crowded than public ports.

The island is divided into themed zones, making it easy to plan your day around relaxation, adventure or a mix of both.

Top Things to Do at CocoCay

From the moment you step ashore at the Arrivals Plaza, everything is clearly signposted and designed for easy exploring.

Oasis Lagoon

Oasis Lagoon is the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean and one of the island’s most popular attractions. It features a swim up bar, submerged loungers, shallow areas for relaxing and live music throughout the day. This is the social heart of the island and completely free to use.

South Beach

South Beach offers a classic beach day experience with complimentary sun loungers, umbrellas and towels. Volleyball courts, calm swimming waters and nearby food outlets make this a favourite for guests who prefer sand over slides.

Up, Up and Away Balloon Ride

For panoramic views of the island and your cruise ship, the Up, Up and Away helium balloon ride lifts guests more than 130 metres above sea level. It is one of the highest observation balloon rides in the world and perfect for photos.

Thrill Waterpark at CocoCay

Thrill Waterpark is the island’s adrenaline hub and one of the biggest waterparks in the Caribbean.

The headline attraction is Daredevil’s Peak, the tallest waterslide in North America at over 40 metres high. The park also features multiple waterslides, a massive wave pool, raft rides and family friendly splash areas.

Thrill Waterpark requires an additional ticket, but for many guests it is the highlight of the day.

Late Nights and Overnight Stays at CocoCay

Due to its popularity, Royal Caribbean now offers itineraries that include late night stays or even two visits to CocoCay on the same cruise. In the evenings, the island transforms with live bands, fire dancers, laser shows and fireworks.

These extended visits have made CocoCay a standout destination on Caribbean cruises in 2026 and beyond.

Food and Drink on Perfect Day at CocoCay

One of the biggest advantages of CocoCay is that most food is included in your cruise fare.

Complimentary Dining Options

There are several complimentary dining locations across the island, serving burgers, tacos, salads and island style favourites.

Snack Shack is a guest favourite, especially for its crispy chicken sandwich, mozzarella sticks and fresh fries.

Paid Dining and Bars

Captain Jack’s is the main à la carte venue on the island, offering wings, drinks and live music with waterfront views. It is a great spot for a relaxed afternoon drink.

Do Beverage Packages Work on CocoCay?

Yes. If you have purchased a Royal Caribbean drinks package, it works fully on Perfect Day at CocoCay. Wi Fi packages also work across the island, and complimentary water and juice are available at food stations.

Coco Beach Club: Is It Worth It?

For guests looking for a more exclusive experience, the Coco Beach Club offers a premium upgrade.

This private area includes an infinity pool, a quieter beach, upgraded dining and access to the first floating cabanas in the Bahamas. The floating cabanas are among the most luxurious private spaces available on any cruise private island.

There is no separate area for suite guests or loyalty members elsewhere on the island, so Coco Beach Club is the main option for added luxury.

Is Perfect Day at CocoCay Worth Visiting?

Perfect Day at CocoCay consistently ranks as one of the best private islands in the Caribbean. It combines the ease of an all inclusive resort with the variety of a theme park and the relaxation of a beach escape.

Whether you want to tackle record breaking waterslides, unwind by the largest pool in the Caribbean or relax in a floating cabana, CocoCay delivers a genuinely flexible day that suits couples, families and first time cruisers alike.
